The average American will spend 43 days of his life on hold

Please hold… your interest in reading the news news story is very important to us.

A new study by mobile advertising analytics firm Marchex (no they don’t make bags or Chex Mix with mar Chex in them) estimates that Americans will spend more than 900 million hours waiting on hold this year. Another survey by text-message service TalkTo found that more than half of Americans say they spend 10 to 20 minutes every week  or 43 days of their life… on hold.

Marchex also released important info on which states contain the most impatient humans. Kentucky residents are the fastest to hang up, followed by those in Ohio, North Carolina, New York and West Virginia. Residents in these five “ain’t nobody got time for that” states were more than twice as likely as those in the bottom to five to hang up when put on hold.

Sure this news is a total bummer if you’re an American, but it’s great news for Hall & Oates. Air Supply and Toto.
